Material Description:

304H steel is an austenitic chromium-nickel material widely used in various contexts thanks to its excellent workability, corrosion resistance, and numerous surface treatment options, such as final polishing, grinding, or brushing.

Thanks to its higher carbon content compared to grade 1.4301, 304H 1.4948 offers excellent heat resistance at high temperatures. However, AISI 304H has limited intergranular corrosion resistance at high temperatures or in the welded condition. If welding cannot be avoided, the use of material 1.4307 is recommended.

WELDING

The material can be welded with or without filler metal (e.g., 1.4316). The maximum holding temperature is 200°C. If the carbon content is in the higher range, solution annealing is required after welding. If heat treatment is not planned, the use of the low-carbon material 1.4307 is recommended. The heat input during welding affects corrosion resistance.
