DUPLEX F51
Other specifications:
UNS S31803 – 1.4462 – X2CrNiMoN22.5.3. – F51- UNS S32205 – F60; EN 10204 3.1. NACE MR0175 -NACE MR 0103; Norsok, API 6A
The corrosion resistance of this Duplex F51 steel is much higher than that of Chromium-Nickel-Molybdenum austenitics (316/316L and derivatives), and has a much higher elastic limit; the limitation to the use of steel is its two-phase structure (austenite + ferrite) which is stable up to temperatures of the order of 350 °C. F51 steel has excellent corrosion resistance in acid and chlorinated environments; it is insensitive to intergranular corrosion, and has a high resistance to corrosion under tension (stress corrosion) by virtue of its high elastic limit. The resistance to pitting corrosion is considerable (PREN = approximately 33, compared to a value of approximately 28 of 1.4435 steel, which is a variant of AISI 316L with a higher molybdenum content.
The treatment that gives the steel its optimal properties for use is a solubilization that leads to equilibrium in the structure with a 50% + 50% distribution of austenite and ferrite. To obtain this balance, the steel must be heated up to 1050 ÷ 1100 °C and after maintenance it must be cooled in water or air.
We produce duplex F51 in following forms:
- Rolled and forged round bars
- Custom forged bars
- Perforated bars and sockets
