Alloy K500
Other specifications:
MONEL® alloy K-500, UNS N05500, W.Nr. 2.4375, Nickel Alloy K500 ASTM B865; SAE-AMS 4676; QQ-N-286; BS 3076-89 NA18; Nace MR01-75 / ISO15156; Nace MR01-03; PED 97/23 / CE – 2014/68 / EU
Alloy K500 (also called “K-Monel”) is a nickel-based precipitation hardening alloy with similar corrosion resistance to Alloy 400, but with a higher level of strength and hardness that comes from its titanium content and aluminium. Alloy K500 is more susceptible to stress corrosion cracking. The resistance to hydrogen sulphide makes Alloy K500 very useful in environments with acidic gases, which makes this alloy very useful in the oil and marine sectors and in the presence of chemical agents. The low corrosion rate in salt water makes Alloy K500 suitable for marine conditions, although pitting may occur in standing water.
Monel 500 comes in:
- Sheets and plates
- Rolled plates and forged plates
- bars, round billets, ingots
- perforated bars and tubes
- forged rings, forged flat and round bars
- custom forged elements
MAIN APPLICATIONS :
- Fasteners in caustic environments, dry chlorine, chlorinated plastic materials
- Shipbuilding and marine industry applications such as propellers, shafts, fasteners, gyroscopes, springs
- Pump shafts, valve stems, heavy rods and instrumentation for the oil and gas industry
- Sensors and electronic components
- Components for heat exchangers
MAIN CHARACTERISTICS:
- Good resistance to turbulence corrosion
- High resistance to fatigue in sea water
- Excellent mechanical properties from sub-zero temperatures up to 480°C
- Corrosion resistance in a wide range of marine environments and with the presence of chemicals. From pure water to non-oxidizing mineral acids, salts and alkalis.
