Other specifications:

Inconel 725 ® ; (UNS N07725); API6A CRA; ASTM B805 (Chemistry); NACE MR‐0175/ISO 15156

Alloy 725 is a nickel-chromium alloy with significant additions of molybdenum, niobium and titanium.

Alloy 725 is very similar to Alloy 625 in terms of corrosion resistance and is therefore used in a wide range of highly corrosive environments. It is age hardened to achieve extremely high strength, approximately double that of alloy 625 in the annealed state, by precipitation of the ϒ ” phase during a controlled heat treatment. Because the high strength is achieved by aging rather than cold working, the alloy retains excellent ductility and toughness.

The high nickel content guarantees resistance to stress corrosion cracking; the combination with molybdenum allows the alloy to be very resistant to reducing environments, such as sulfuric and phosphoric acids, the combination with chromium guarantees resistance in oxidizing environments, such as nitric acid, while titanium inhibits intergranular corrosion and in general guarantees resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. The combination of alloying elements generally provides excellent resistance to acidic conditions found in oil and gas wells, containing carbon dioxide, chlorides and hydrogen sulfide, and is approved under NACE MR 1075 for use in such applications.

Alloy 725 comes in:

  • bars, round billets, ingots
  • perforated bars and tubes
  • forged rings, forged flat and round bars
  • custom forged elements

MAIN APPLICATIONS:

  • Suitable for use in oil and gas wells, highly corrosive and acidic environments, approved to NACE MR 1075 (A hardness level of 43 HRC max. is permitted in NACE MR0175 when no elemental sulfur is present)
  • Excellent corrosion resistance in a wide variety of corrosive environments, including seawater and industrial acids
  • Age hardened for extreme strength
  • Good ductility and toughness
  • Excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking
