Alloy 617 is a nickel-chromium-cobalt alloy, known above all for its excellent metallurgical stability. Also sold under the brand name Inconel® 617, this alloy offers a wide range of other exceptional properties to users, including:
- Resistance to oxidation at high temperatures, thanks to the addition of aluminum
- Good resistance to a wide range of corrosive aqueous environments
- Resistant to a number of different harmful reducing and oxidizing materials
- Cobalt and molybdenum impart reinforcement in solid solution
- Ease of joining with more conventional welding techniques
