Alloy 400 is used for its excellent combination of corrosion resistance, weldability and ductility. Corrosion resistance in salt water is particularly good under high speed conditions. It has excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in neutral and alkaline salts. It is one of the very few alloys that can be used in conjunction with hydrofluoric acid and fluorine.

Monel comes in:

  • sheets
  • Rolled plates and forged plates
  • bars, round billets, ingots
  • perforated bars and tubes
  • forged rings, forged flat and round bars
  • custom forged elements

MAIN APPLICATIONS:

  • Alloy 400 is often used in marine environments for fasteners, piping
  • drive shafts and valve and pump components.
  • Brine heaters
  • Industrial heat exchangers
  • Power plants

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Excellent resistance to neutral and alkaline salts.
  • NACE MR0175 limits supply hardness to 35 HRC max.
  • It can be used with fluorine, hydrofluoric acid, hydrogen fluoride and their derivatives.
  • Resistance to caustic alkalis.
  • Resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
  • Good mechanical properties from sub-zero temperatures up to 548.88°C.
