Material Description: 1.4878 stainless steel is an iron alloy containing 17% to 19% chromium, 9% to 12% nickel, and limited amounts of carbon, silicon, and manganese. Due to its high amount of carbon, this material has better resistance to high temperatures than 1.4541 stainless steel. 1.4878 steel is resistant to corrosion in many environments, including water and moist air at room temperature, but also at elevated temperatures. Furthermore, it has high resistance to plastic deformation and fatigue.
