Material Description: 1.4529 stainless steel is an iron-based alloy containing high levels of molybdenum, nickel and chromium, as well as smaller amounts of copper and tungsten. This material has good corrosion resistance in highly aggressive environments, such as concentrated sulfuric and phosphoric acids, chlorides and brackish solutions. The addition of copper and tungsten gives greater resistance to crevicular corrosion and sub-tensile corrosion. Additionally, 1.4529 steel has high mechanical strength, making it suitable for applications where stress resistance is critical. Thanks to its high mechanical strength, 1.4529 steel is also often used in applications where good resistance to stress is required, such as in the naval, aeronautical and power generation industries. Furthermore, due to its resistance to crevicular corrosion, this material is often used in applications where the presence of welded joints is unavoidable.
